Interested to Know About Me?

Hi, I'm Kimberly. I have a ton of nicknames - Kim, Kady, Aki.. but you can call me Aki.
I love repurposing and making new things - I feel a deep sense of fulfillment when I know I've made something beautiful and of purpose.
I love learning new skills, processes and general know-how.

Interior Design is my passion. I have a barely used degree in Interior Design, but I would love to actively pursue it.

I love drawing. More than that though, I love designing cards and other printables in Photoshop. I have an unhealthy obsession with fonts.
Nail polish is one addiction of mine that I cycle back to every now and then. I am trying to prevent having a collection that would be unreasonable, and therefore, I only buy reasonably-priced polishes and paraphernalia.
Baking is a recent obsession, although I am not as inclined to it as crafting, though that may be because I still need improvement on it.

Want to tell me something, give me suggestions, talk about sponsorship or even send me something for review? Email me @ aki.altuna@gmail.com and let's talk. :)

  1. I excitedly hit the "publish" button, then wait...the page reloads, me following the green dot with my eyes as it rotates. I scroll down the page with my finger, careful not to create fingerprints on the iPad screen. Pausing once in a while to smile at a photo with a funny caption done by Aki (Kimberly, Kim, Kady?) and then, reach the bottom. I catch my breath as I view the comment. Dead? Sure, it had been a suspicion of mine. However, I was certain that no person would ever confirm a thought that another was "dead". "Way to go being quiet, Yuan-yuan," I mutter to myself. I exit the pages, clear the history, and raise myself into the bathroom to prepare for bed.
As I lather soap onto my arms and neck 5 minutes later, I gather my thoughts and review them as any 10 year old girl would diligently study for an upcoming science exam. Aki (Kimberly, Kim, Kadi?) was like a friend to me. In my thoughts, she was the gleaming princess who gladly consented to listen the ravings of a crazy weirdo, or whatever it is that people are and do nowadays. Each time I see her reply from a comment, I feel a stone of hard guilt in my stomach for disturbing her while she's busy. I'm sure that her fiance would think badly of me once he had seen all those comments. But I love Minted Strawberry and Aki (Kimberly, Kim, Kadi?), and to the point when I reveal my identity when my family is so protective- naturally! On Mich L in LA, which is the only other place where I comment, I assume the identity of Sakura Yamamoto. My free hand pinches my upper lip while the other turns off the shower water.
Later, climbing into bed, I mull over the thoughts again........does Aki truly appreciate my bothering her? Perhaps she views comments as...well, comments, and not as "bothering" her. I glance over the clock, which reads 9:56 PM. In light of the lateness, as well as my mental and physical exhaustion, I think it best to turn of the light and rest.

This is true! The events and my opinions! It happened last night......

  2. Your writing reminds me of mine when I tried to write Harry Potter fan fiction - the good old days. Heehee. I'm truly okay - just really busy and kind of lazy at the same time! Thanks for worrying Angeline. :)

    1. It seems to me that you tried.......and was successful.....NOT!!!! You say you tried, but to me you look capable of anything.....murder, perhaps? Oh, I get it: you murdered an ant and in the process, forgot to complete what would've been works of genius......oh well!

    4. Oh yeah, Aki, you know that Fonts2Go app? I'd like to know if it's available on the iPad, coz it seems so.....interesting....Angeline

UPDATE: those things that say, ''Please prove you're not a robot'' are really weird! Do you choose for it to say that, or does it come up with suggesting that there should be proof of no robots???? The things are getting harder and harder to see! But, it is necessary for it.

    5. Or should I say, necessary for these measures to be taken to consideration and brought to reality because of the startling technology in this newly revolutionized, industrial 21st century?????????!

    7. I used to watch Detective Conan, never really watched Shugo Chara. I was a really big fan of JRock and JPop when I was younger, it kinda influenced my Visual Kei phase...hahaha!

And oh, regarding the robot thing - I don't know how to turn that off, I didn't choose that. I think it's because you comment a lot as compared to other users that the system thinks it's spam or something. o.O

    8. Oh we'll, that's nice......but the first time I commented, it did that too. Anyway, doesn't stop me!

Angeline, in her glory as she gleefully imagines Aki younger watching Shinichi Kudo and Heiji Hattori in their glory as they smash through mysteries, and then frowns as she wonders why on earth Aki didn't watch the glory of stupid Amu, cute Rima, sane Nagihiko, immature but kind Rikka, and awesome Utau Hoshina. !!!

  3. Silently, I type in "minted" and the history shows the bleached Aztec jeans. I clicked....the page loaded, I scrolled, and I read. A comment from Aki on the 18th! but not a reply for me. A comment after mine, replied to. I sniff. I try. To not. I try to grasp the impossibility that she had no time. I am pissed off at myself for asking. But the time is gone when I can believe that Aki is there.
I clear the history and leave.

  5. Oops, sorry! meant Maiko Nagao, and also, just sayin'! When I get to 8th Grade (long way, since I'm only 10, and I just completed 5th Grade), I will form my clan. We'll be called the Blueberry Smarties and we'll be sarcastic, gentle, pretty, artistic, geniuses, popular, creative, resourceful, Gifted, and athletic (just like Haibara Ai, Hoshina Utau, Mashiro Rima, and that ghost in the app Chinese Zombie War). Always passionately daydreaming (and night dreaming, too),

  6. Sorry about the excessive comments, I just love it here cause no one really comments here, after all. Anyway, 5 years? Not long? Number one, I think 5 years is not too short, not he contrary. Number two, I thought I was in fifth grade. Number three, doesn't 5.5 plus 2.5 equal 8???? Also easily confused,

    2. Whaddaya mean? I still don't understand. So do you mean that now you understand that it's just 2 and a half years? Get your math facts right. Also, when I said "politically interested (NOT) smart", I meant that I'm a big dunderhead and that I am politically interested. Blueberry Smartie preps with the greeting,

  9. Hello Aki! I just wanted to thank you for taking all the time and effort you must invest in your FANTASTIC website! I have been looking around excitedly since yesterday and can't wait to try some of your wonderful and fun designs. I make hats and you have given me a wealth of inspiration. I just love thelook and tone of your site and your creations are so clearly planned (so you will be writing a book when?). Congratulations on your engagement! I am sure your wedding will be gorgeous, since I am assuming a lot of it will be made by and thought of by you. Lucky guy!

So, thanks again for just giving away such great ideas, and if I ever get to make any of them (I am sick a lot but love to make things), I will post them for you to see.

I hope that you get to realize your interior design dream, too-it can be so difficult when you can't use the degrees you have earned, but you will get there (or write a book soon...you can do both!).

    Sincerely,

    Zophie ;-)

  13. Hello Aki,

My name is Charlynn. I love your earrings and I work with leather and suede to make earrings too. I have trouble cutting perfect circles or lines. What are you using to cut out your earring designs? Thank you in advance.
